Time and place to be determined.
Final Exams from previous semesters -
One of the best ways to prepare for the final exam is to work exams from previous semesters.
Click
here
to go to a page where there are three final exams. I am planning
on having a help session before the final (time to be determined later)
and we will spend some time working on these exams. Make sure you
work them BEFORE the help session. Otherwise, just watching me
work the problems will NOT help you! Enjoy!
Final Exam Practice Problems -
- Quiz 11 will cover sections 9.8 and 9.9 and has 3 questions.
-
I will work exercises 9.8 #3 and 9.9 #2, 12 and (if time) 14, and I will find the
series to the fifth power term. Make sure and work these yourself
before coming to class.
- We will also discuss the best time to have
the help session during finals week. I'm thinking Wednesday, late
afternoon, like 5-7pm. Check you final schedule before class this
week to see if you can make that time. I am not guaranteeing this
will be the time. If you have another suggestion, let me know.
I will be asking all three sections this week and then we will
settle on a time next week.
-
I just heard that at least one person has the Physics 222 final exam on
Wednesday which conflicts with the help session. What would you
think about having the help session on Sunday afternoon? We
wouldn't have a conflict with any final exams. If we did that, I
would be available all Thursday afternoon before the final for
individual questions.
Week 14 (Nov 25, 27) - Happy Thanksgiving!
- Don't stop working on calculus this week but take a few days at the end of the week to relax. See you next week!
Week 13 (Nov 18, 20)
-
Starting this week, I will have adjusted office hours for the rest of
the semester. My Wednesday afternoon office hours will now be held
Thursday mornings 10-12.
-
Quiz 10 will cover sections 9.5-9.8. Come to class prepared to
take the quiz. I will be going over the exam, so there won't be time to
do anything else.
- Suggested Practice Problems:
Section 9.5 1-29 odd
Section 9.6 1-27 odd
Section 9.7 1-25 odd
Section 9.8 1-23 odd
-
Also this week we will be doing course evaluations. This is your
chance to be heard and make changes in the math department. I
would appreciate hearing if I helped you in this course and how I could
have helped you more. You also get to evaluate Dr. Weber and the
lecture part of the course.
Week 12 (Nov 11, 13)
- We will discuss section 9.6 Power Series
Week 11 (Nov 4, 6)
- Exam 3 this Friday, Nov 7
- Help Session, Thursday night, Nov 6, 6-8pm in 2115 Pearson
- Quiz 9 will cover sections 9.2-9.4.
- Suggested Practice Problems:
Section 9.2 1-13 odd
Section 9.3 1-31 odd
Section 9.4 1-33 odd
-
Make a list of all the tests, how and when to use them and what they
tell you. Make this list before recitation and bring it with you.
-
Format of help session: I will answer questions, so bring specific
questions. If you don't have questions and just want to come and
absorb, feel free. If there aren't any questions, I will work
some example problems. The format is very informal.
Week 10 (Oct 28, 30)
- Quiz 8 will cover sections 9.1 and 9.2. This quiz has 3 questions.
- Suggested Practice Problems:
Section 9.1 - 1-39 odd
Section 9.2 - 1-13 odd
- Tuesday section only: we will meet back in room 0068 Carver
-
I will give you an overview of chapter 9 and some information on
indeterminate forms. I will also work one problem from section
9.1 1-19 odd and a second problem from 9.2 1-13 odd, if there is time.
Week 9 (Oct 21, 23)
- You will get your exam back. Your score is posted and the average was about 57%.
-
Tuesday section only: you are meeting in 0001 Carver again
this week. If the TA does not have time to go over the exam, come
and see me so that I can help you understand your mistakes. I
don't know what examples he will cover in class. So work the
practice problems below to prepare for the quiz.
-
Thursday sections only: I will go over the exam if there is time.
I don't know what problems I will work in recitation. So,
just like the Tuesday section, work the practice problems below to
prepare for the quiz.
- Quiz 7 this week on Sections 8.2-8.4.
- Suggested practice problems:
Section 8.2 - 1-39 odd
Section 8.3 - 1-19 odd
Section 8.4 - 1-31 odd
-
Additional suggestion: Remember that I said Chapter 9 was the most
difficult this semester and it looks like Dr. Weber is ready to start
lecturing on it soon. So plan on spending extra time for this
chapter. Read the material before the lecture and come to me with
questions, either during office hours or by email.
Week 8 (Oct 14, 16)
We will have a quiz this week. It will cover the
last section of chapter 7 and the first section of chapter 8.
