Bronte House by Rolf Ockert Design

Revit Model

Sydney, Australia

The client wanted a dream house perched high over the Pacific Ocean. However, the site was very small and restricted by surrounding dwellings. The goal was to create a house that felt alone with the ocean and the sky.
Sophisticated simplicity is often used by Rolf Ockert Design to describe the design work of the Bronte House. The site restrictions created a very precise approach. The focus was naturally on celebrating the ocean, however, the major design desicions came from the urban context.

Design Strategies
Rolf Ockert Design took advantage of the one spatial dimension they had control over. They designed high walls to create the illusion of big spatial areas within the house. Highlight windows provided the enjoyment of the ocean and sky at all times.
