How May I Help You?

As the subject librarian for your department, I can provide assistance to you and your students in a number of ways.

Are you including a research assignment/activity in your course this semester?

As the subject librarian for your department, I can provide instruction to your students on how to locate and use Library resources. In past semesters I have worked with Warren Dolphin (GDCB), Rob Wallace (EEOB), Adah Leshem-Ackerman (EEOB), Clark Coffman (GDCB), Tony Contento (GDCB) and Barb Krumhardt (GDCB). I enjoy teaching and would love to have the opportunity to work with you and your students! It is my experience that many undergraduates and graduate students are unaware of the wealth of Library resources available to them.

Is your lab group interested in learning more about the Web of Science, PubMed, and other Library resources?

I'd be happy to update your lab group on resources relevant to their research.

Are you a faculty sponsor for a student organization?

If so, consider having a meeting program related to Library resources. Last fall, I spoke to the Pre-med Club about Library resources related to medical school admissions and resources available from the National Library of Medicine.

Are you having problems accessing electronic resources from your office or home?

Please contact me if you encounter error messages upon trying to access an electronic journal. Many times the publisher will change the URL and not bother to notify us about the change!

Nature Online Archive Now Available!

The Library recently purchased online access to the Nature archive. The ISU community now has online access to Nature from January 7, 1950 to the present.

Upcoming Library Seminars

Check out the October seminar schedule for information about the following programs:

Please note: Pre-registration is required!!

Your Input Needed!!

The Library is beginning the process of redesigning the web site. There is a link to a short survey at the bottom of the homepage for user comments/suggestions about our current web site. If you havn't done so already, I urge you to complete the short survey. It will only take a few minutes of your time. Your comments are valuable to the redesign process! Thank you!

Take time to check out the images and videos in the Art of Science: 2006 Online Gallery. "In the spring of 2006 we again asked the Princeton University community to submit images—and, for the first time, videos and sounds—produced in the course of research or incorporating tools and concepts from science. Out of nearly 150 entries from 16 departments, we selected 56 works to appear in the 2006 Art of Science exhibition."

Knight Science Journalism Tracker. "KSJ Tracker is a service for science journalists, created and funded by the Knight Science Journalism Fellowship Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and launched in May 2006. We believe that if science reporters and editors have convenient and timely access to the work of peers across the country, they can better evaluate and improve their own performance. Our goal is to provide a broad sampling of the past day’s science news and, where possible, of news releases or other news tips related to publication of science news in the general circulation news media, mainly of the U.S."
