Journals
ISU Library receives
nearly 33,914 journals annually. These include print as well as electronic
subscriptions.
To find out if the ISU Library subscribes
to a journal you want:
- Go to the e-Library.
At the top banner, click on Library Catalog.
- Select Serial Title as your search
type on the drop-down menu; type in the journal title you want. It is important
to use the correct journal title (not an abbreviation) to get the best results.

The subscription summary
at the bottom of the record for the journal will provide information on what
years are held by the ISU Library, the location, call number, and status.

Sometimes there will be a link in
the catalog record for the electronic version:

Fulltext electronic journals (e-journals)
and electronic books (e-books) can be found under Collections>>>e-Journals
& e-Books. You can do a journal title search to find out if we
have a journal electronically and for how many years back.

Reminder: When
searching for journals, always check the online catalog AND the e-Journals &
e-Books list.
To find research articles
on a particular topic:
- Use an index
in your discipline area to search many journals at once.
To find the articles from
the index citations:
Sometimes online indexes link directly
to the article of fulltext online journal:
If there is not a link
to the fulltext, look up the journal name in the online catalog and the e-Journals
and e-Books list.
If the ISU Library does not subscribe
to the journal you are looking for, you can request the article through Interlibrary
Loan.
- A separate form must be filled
out for each item requested.
- Paper request forms are available
on request in the ILL office.
- Interlibrary loan requests are
not accepted by telephone.
- Interlibrary loan is a free
service!
