Operation chemistry is a national teacher education program in chemistry for teachers of upper elementary and middle school (grades 4-8). It is sponsored by the American Chemical Society and the National Science Foundation with the training site located at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. The program's goal is to foster a new and dynamic method of teaching chemistry by developing and training a national network of teams who will, in turn, train teachers in their regional areas. Each team will consist of a college chemistry faculty member, a high school chemistry teacher, an elementary or middle-school physical science teacher, and a representative from a local chemistry industry who has worked with pre-high school science eduation. Travel money and stipend is provided.
