Local Health Center Online HIPAA Training

Brief Description:

A local health center wants online training for new employees which can be carried out within their first five days of employment. This training would teach about employees' responsibilities to protect patients personal health care and financial information according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the center's Information Privacy and Security Policy. Therefore, the goal of this project was to develop an online training module on the Handling Patients Privacy and Security Issues for the center's new employees.

 

 

 

 

 

Nature:

The main purpose of the project was to develop an online training module on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and theIowa State University, Health Information Privacy and Security Policy.

 

Audience:

The employees at the Thomas B. Thielen Student Health Center (TSHC) who must take the HIPAA training within the first 5 days of employment date and before having direct contact with the patients.

Outcomes:

Interactive online training modules that include combination of case-based video clips, audios and animations, not only to motivate the employees to take the training but also to help them better understand HIPAA and ISU policies look like in real life.
