5.5.0 Town-Gown Relationship

 


Iowa State University cares deeply about how its work intersects with the lives of individuals and communities. Furthermore, the University’s ability to fulfill its engagement and service mission is closely tied to its relationship with the local community.

This section of the self-study describes Iowa State⁏s “town-gown relationship” with the local and regional community, and provides examples of the manner in which Iowa State enhances community vitality with its extracurricular activities and community-based service learning opportunities. The section also describes partnerships between the University and local government and community organizations, providing specific examples such as cooperative efforts for facilities and utilities, community programs, economic development initiatives, and public safety efforts.
