2.2.0 Faculty & Staff

In keeping with the University’s mission to provide high quality undergraduate education programs, and its strong commitment to graduate education that emphasizes the development of professional, research, and scholarly skills, great care is taken in searching for and hiring highly qualified faculty and competent support staff. The University has also developed a mentoring program for faculty to enhance their professional growth. Many among the faculty have been nationally and internationally recognized for accomplishments in their fields. There are members of the National Academy of Science, the National Academy of Engineering, and numerous Fellows of prestigious societies. Some have received National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Awards and Fulbright Fellowships, and many have received recognition for cutting-edge research in agriculture, chemistry, and communications technology, among other fields. In addition to research, teaching excellence is also valued and rewarded. There has also been a greater effort to demonstrate appreciation for the work of the staff, recognizing that they contribute in meaningful ways to the institution’s mission.
