Student Complaint
Specialized Accreditation of Academic Programs

The University operates in full compliance with federal, state, and Higher Learning Commission policies, providing full disclosure on length of programs, tuition, advertising and recruitment materials, student complaints, and professional accreditation.

Information and disclosures required by law along with pertinent University policies are available on the University website. In addition, information on the following topics is sent to students at the beginning of each academic year.

Information Disclosure

• The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA ) explaining students’   rights relative to their academic records (also available on the web)

• Voter registration information, as required by the 1998 Higher Education Act

• Information on general institutional operation, financial assistance, general   completion and graduation rates, annual security report, completion and   graduation rates for student athletes, and athletic program participation rates   and financial support (also available on the web)

• Policy Library containing all policies from parking regulations to academic   grievances

• 2005-07 catalog on the web

Student Complaint

Iowa State University uses various strategies to collect and respond to complaints from all constituents. In keeping with a 1998 Higher Learning Commission requirement to maintain a log of written student complaints, the institution has made several administrative offices responsible for keeping a list of complaints, which will be analyzed and will be available during the campus visit.
