Ice}{awk's Counterstrike Zone

Here you will see two paragraphs explaining why both the para (The machinegun that costs like $5,750, for all you so-called CS players out there that still don't know what the para is!) & the single pump are underrated Counterstrike weapons.

Why You'd Better Respect the Para...

First of all, if you don't respect the para its gonna kill you. Whether your excuse is "I was reloading", "WTF! I didn't know it could shoot through boxes", or "F------ headshot (Vene likes to say that)", if you got killed by the para the other guy was not lucky, you just got owned. The para is well designed for four main purposes:

In essence, the para is great for taking advantage of the other guns' low clip size, but will fall prey to good players that use the carbine, navy, or ak because the para will not hit as often and as accurately as the above weapons will. However, the para hits hard when it does hit, so in a close range fight only the low fire rate is the para's weakness. On another note, often times the para is not used simply because it's so expensive, however, since I personally prefer buying the lower cost weapons like the single pump and the navy, after two or three rounds I'll grab the para for some easy kills. It's also quite amusing to get a whole team of terrorists on siege to go para, the amount of sound and bullets going everywhere is insane. Plus, if any ct were rushing and smacking down the terrorists the rounds before, after that para round, they won't run in the corridor so fast :)

Now for the Single Pump

Probably one of the most difficult weapons to master in Counterstrike, the Single Pump is no doubt second only to the Awp in the ability to kill with one chest shot (with or without armor on). The hardest thing about using the Single Pump is that in order to win a 1on1 firefight against another automatic weapon you must use one of two fighting styles to consistently come out alive.

The first one requires intense patience and calm. In this strategy you must try and get in close range to your opponent and hit him short range in the chest (with the full blast). It may not sound to difficult, however, while you are jumping and strafing trying to get in range your opponent will be trying to empty a clip in you, so if you try and shot while being hit it can screw up your aim if you are not careful. This is where experience and patience comes in. In order to truely master the Single Pump you must be willing to almost be killed before taking the shot, because unless your opponent is less skilled than you, you will take a lot of damage before you get into the one-shot-kill range. In some instances, instead of risking a shot (and consequently a reload penalty) too far away at 50 health you might want to hold off about 2 more seconds in order to get into killing range. You might get there at 25 health, but just remember all it takes is one shot and he is dead.

The second and usually most effective strategy is to take shots out of one-shot-kill range. One reason why this is effective is that most times if you are using the Single Pump you are merely backup to your teamates, so there is a good chance the first enemy you encounter will already be injured, so even a shot from outside one-shot-kill range (with full armor and health) might kill them. So if they are already hurt it's better to take medium range shots rather than taking the risk of getting killed trying to get in close range since it's not necessary in order to kill them. Also, sometimes if your opponent is medium range and you see him/her first and start jumping around, he or she (or she....yeah right) might miss you enough that you can get 3 or 4 good shots off. Normally this is good enough to take them out if they are direct hits and don't just scratch them.
