Summary:
Cultural and Mechanical Weed Control, a member of the "Quick Bibliography
Series of the National Agricultural Library," is intended "for current
awareness, and as the title of the series implies..." is "not [an] indepth
exhaustive" bibliography system of any subject. Citations are resources for
recent research and bring the "literature of agriculture to the interested
user...." Bibliographies are "derived from computerized on-line searches of
the AGRICOLA data base. Timeliness of topic and evidence of extensive
interest are the selection criteria." The site's creator "determines the
purpose, length, and search strategy of the Quick Bibliography. Information
regarding these is available upon request from the author/searcher."
Entries within the site include journal articles, books, and audiovisual
materials. Specifications are given as to information provided within
entries, to aid in searching. Instructions are also provided for requesting

Summary:
Weed Photo Album is a photo database of about 200
commmon American weeds, sponsored by the Weed Science Society of America
(WSSA), which is dedicated to "...protect[ing] the environment [through] the
use of safe and efficient weed control practices...[and] facilitat[ing] the
exchanges of information about weeds and their control." The site is a
collection of images, reproduced at optimum resolution for quick loading.
Pictures of some of the plants are given as "...an aid in identification of
plants that have toxic or poisonous properties."
The site features an alphabetical index at the top; each letter is a direct
link to its respective records within the master listings. For each plant,
a common name and scientific name are provided. Users should select a plant
name to view its image. The image page also contains other common names of
the plant (if applicable) and its scientific name. A link is given to the
alphabetical index, for ease in searching.
At the bottom of the site's master list are links to oter divisions of the
Weed Science Society of America WWW site: (1) grass/broadleaf/grasslike
weeds; (2) grass identification; (3) growth habit; (4) inflorescene type;

leaf shape; (6) herbicide injury; and (7) the WSSA homepage.

Summary:
The World Weeds Database is a service of the Department of Plant Sciences of
the University of Oxford. This database contains information from the book,
A Geographical Atlas of World Weeds by Leroy Holm, et al., and
displays "...information [on] over 2400 weed species around the world
according [to]...rank of importance. This rank includes five different
categories, each one identified with a number [1-5]...." The site also
"...provides the enquirer with four different ways of [viewing]
information." Users should note that the site is presently under
construction; contents only consist of plant families through the letter
"G".
In addition, the site displays sample search pages, none having active links
for searching.
At the top of the site, the user will find links for contacting the site's
creators. The main page offers information on the site's history, intent,
and scope, as well as searching methods. Users should scroll to view
contents in this area; after passing through the graphics area (on
searching), the user will find four sample search pages. None of these
pages offers links for active searching of the database; also provided at
the bottom of the search pages is a world map, displayed to show the
site's world mapping search page. Users will eventually be able to search
by plant name, genus, family, and country of origin.
