QH 84.5 Natural History (General). Tropical Regions
Summary:
Tropinet is a quarterly newsletter, which provides a "...forum for
the discussion of current [and] sometimes controversial issues. It brings
the news of meetings, new publications, grants, and employment opportunities
to tropical biologists." The publication, sponsored by the Association for
Tropical Biology, reaches over 4,000 tropical biologists worldwide.
Upon accessing the site, users will find links to the Organization of
Tropical Studies and to the Smithsonian Institution, both of which are
sponsors of the site. Below these links is a listing of current newsletter
issues, available online, dating from 1995 and 1996. Each issue is noted
with its volume and issue numbers. Selecting an issue from the list then
displays its contents. Users should scroll to view a given issue's
contents; links exist within articles to further information on topics. A
link is provided to the Association for Tropical Biology at the top of an
issue's contents.
Topics within a given issue include: conference postings (details); awards
information; regional reports from Latin America, Asia, and North America;
book reviews; field station profiles; announcements; employment ads; funding
announcements; and new publications listings.
