First Exam
Date: Thursday, October 4th
This exam, which makes up 15% of your final grade, will cover the first six weeks of class material, including the following topics:
- Various HTML tags and their uses in page design
- Invisible tables for page layout
- Cascading Style Sheets used to control page elements
- Rhetorical aspects of web design
- Ideas and terms of information architecture, and
- Cascading Style Sheets for designing pages without tables.
The format of the exam will include the following:
- (15) identification questions, in which you are given a term and you must supply a specific definition - 45%
- (10) multiple choice questions - 25%
- An essay question in which you are asked to analyze a particular site and comment on particular aspects of its design - 30%
You can do well on this exam by taking copious class notes, reading the assigned readings closely, and asking questions in class when you do not understand a particular concept.
