Project Collaboration
If you have opted to work with a partner on your final web site project, then you may find the following tips on collaborating within virtual space very helpful. To assure that you and your partner can work asynchronously without interfering with one another's work, I am recommending this simple option:
- Sharing an AFS Directory - after running several tests, I have decided to set up project folders under our class web site directory so that you and your partner can read and write files into a common folder that is live on the Internet. You will have to work out protocols for uploading files to this shared space via FTP, but this give both of you access to a common web site that can be viewed by anyone on the web. After you submit your proposals, I will establish project folders for you and your partner. Files you place in this folder will be accessible on the Web from the following page: http://honeyl.public.iastate.edu/313/projects/. However, users must provide a username and password, which I will provide to everyone in class, in order to view your site. I will also provide explicit directions on how to access this shared directory via Dreamweaver.
