  NEW UPDATES:

It's the first time that the corn images are available on our web site. The first set is the year 2007 GEM Recommended Lines on the page of GEM Documents. More images will be available soon (September 12, 2008).

 

Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science has become our new GEM international public cooperator and is on the GEM Cooperator List (July 10, 2008).
Dr. David Kendra from USDA-ARS has become our new GEM public cooperator and is on the GEM Cooperator List (June 26, 2008).
 
GEM coordinator, Dr. Blanco, gave a presentation on Germplasm Enhancement of Maize (GEM) Project Overview at 49th Annual Corn Dry Milling Conference on May 29 - 30, 2008, Peoria, IL (June 23, 2008).
 
3rd Millennium Genetics became our the newest cooperator and is on the GEM Cooperator List (June 5, 2008).
GEM Field Day is set on September 18, 2008, on the north side of the Plant Introduction Station. Everybody is welcome! (May 19, 2008)
 
GEM project has three new cooperators now and they are Brandy Wine Seed Farms, LLC, GDU Inc., and Terrell Seed Research. You can see the whole list of the GEM cooperators here (May 1, 2008).

GEM 08 Releases (from both Ames and NC locations) are online now with NIR information (Jan. 24, 2008).
 
Nugenplasm, LLC, Indonesia became our newest international cooperator and is on the GEM Cooperator List (Nov. 30, 2007).
 
GEM Field Day handout is posted on our web page for download (Sept. 26, 2007).
During GEM TSG meeting, which was held on September 19, 2007, Dr. Hurburgh, from the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Iowa State University, presented a very interesting speech about NIR analysis and corn utilization. Here is the copy of his PowerPoint presentation with his permission. You can LEFT-click on the link (blue color) and choose an option of Open or Save, depending on your purpose. Since his presentation is 18 MB, it might take a while for you to download if you only have dialup Internet connection (Sept. 20, 2007).
