Learn about the Iowa Caucuses and presidential politics from professor and 17 year public radio talk show personality Dr. Steffen Schmidt "Dr. Politics." Prof Schmidt is an internationally recognized authority who is regularly quoted in much of the print and electronic media including CNN, C-Span, the New York Times, The BBC, and other major sources. Prof. Schmidt has been analyzing presidential politics for 37 years as a professor at Iowa State University.

The Iowa Presidential Caucuses are the lead-off process in the selection of the candidates for president of the most powerful nation on earth. It is both interesting and important to understand the strengths, weaknesses, and the future of this process.
Register for Pol S 312, section XW “Minicourse in American Government and Politics”. (3-0) Cr. 2. Fall, 2007. Second half of the semester. Dates: 10/15/2007-12/14/2007
Format: This course will be an Internet class with lots of discussion topics, streaming digital media, interviews and other great features. Prereq: Sophomore classification. (This can be individually waived if necessary)

Non-credit option: If you want to take this Iowa Caucus Course for your professional development or just to satisfy your curiosity, enroll in it as a non-credit student. You will have access to the same quality material and discussions as for-credit students. If you want to receive a certificate of completion, you will need to pass a summary test at the end. Non-credit course fee is $150. First non-credit section starts on October 15 and closes on December 15, 2007. Starting September 15, 2007 register online.
