This web page has been created for member of the Partnership for the National Trails system to give them instructions on how to create a web page for their organization.
The documment mark-up language for the web is HTML. This language tells your web browser how to format the text for viewing. It also permits the introduction of images and sound.
You can begin by viewing the web pages for the Nez Perce National Historic Trail. These pages form a template for you to modify. The computer file that contains each of these web pages can be saved on your computer by using the file save menu in your web browser. For example, if you are using Netscape ®, click on "FILE", and then "SAVE AS". This will save the HTML file on your computer. This file contains only ASCII text so you can edit it with any word processor. For example, the "NOTEPAD" editor in Microsoft ® Windows ® is a convenient editor for PC users.
Once you have downloaded the file, make the necessary editing changes and then view it with your web browser. After you are satisified, mail it to Steve F. Russell (sfrussel@iastate.edu) and I will put it one the World Wide Web.
