Introduction to Graph Theory

Prentice/Hall, Second Edition.

Math 314 gives an overview over the basic topics. This textbook offers a very wide choice of material, we will select those sections that promise the biggest return on mathematical investment. Specifically, I plan on doing material from chapter 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and possibly additional topics from chapter 8. This means we will look into

We will probably skip most, if not all of chapters 3, 7 and 8.

Required work

Your course grade will be based on take-home homeworks, to be assigned about every two weeks. Everyone will have to demonstrate a solution to a homework problem in class at least once. This is not just an examination, it is an opportunity to improve your communication skills! There will not be a final exam.
