Without doing continuous and solid homework yourself, you cannot succeed in this class. Note that this will not be collected or graded. Instead, we'll have short quizzes with questions very similar to homework questions. And we can do about 2 homework questions from each batch in class - ask me at the beginning of class!! If you don't get your question(s) answered, send me an email or come to office hour - do whatever it takes, but make sure you don't leave any hole unplugged.
You should always be able to show your working - mere results are not enough.
In some sections, there will be 5 suggested problems, in others 6 or 8 - for some sections you have to practice more than for others.
Try to do each batch before going on to the next one. If you cannot do some problem, try to pin down precisely why not. Eg look at the relevant section of the textbook, find a similar worked example. Often this helps already. If you are still at a loss after seriously trying, discuss it with a friend! You can also try the Math Help Room, an SI session, or me.
