It governs what you will study in the course and
what questions will
be asked on the Departmental midterm and final exams
Syllabus: Tentative schedule of the lectures.
Homework: Homework will be collected once a week. Selected problems will be graded. Homework is due at the beginning of class on the day it is due. Late homework will not be accepted. It is very important that you keep up to date with the homework. The homework assignments are the minimum amount of problems for you to practice. Please keep in your mind that the best way to learn mathematics is to work out lots of problems. Please feel free to talk to me whenever you have questions or are unsure of your answers.
Attendance: Students are expected to attend at least 75% of the classes to pass this course. Attendance sheets will be passed in class to sign up.
Exams: There will be 4 in-class exams and the departmental midterm and final exams. Calculators will be allowed in some questions during exams. No make-up exams, except for special circumstances. If an emergency causes you to miss an exam, contact me within 48 hours. Your worst in-class exam grade will be dropped.
Course Grading: Course grades will be based on homework (20%), exams (70%), and class-performance (10%). A tentative grading scale is as follows: A over 90%; B over 80%; C over 70%; D over 60%; F below 60%.
