Quilting Page

This page is all about some of the things I've quilted with pictures of the completed projects.  I've had so much fun quilting that I'd like to retire and do this full time instead.

Feel free to send me URL's of websites that might be of interest in quilting.  Patterns, colors, styles, ideas.  Anything regarding quilting would be appreciated.  Thanks for all your input!

I will also contract out for quilting projects locally.

My Quilting Projects

Embroidered Quilt

This was sewn in 1998. This quilt was sewn for Liz and I embroidered the quilt panels and I cut the large squares to match the sizes of the embroidered panels and then added a large border to divide the rows. I tied the quilt with yarn so as not to interfere with the embroidered squares.

Stack-N-Whack Quilt

Stack N Whack Quilt This quilt is a Stack N Whack quilt I sewed for my Daughter and her husband who live in Morris, MN.  They really liked it!  This quilt was a real challenge to make! When you cut the triangles, and laid out the pattern different ways they made really unique patterns.  You also have to lay out the same pattern on the material before cutting it so that it measured out every 8 inches or so.  It was fun and yet frustrating.  But I learned much from putting it together.  Always make sure your squares and rectangles are the same sizes and once you get each square together make sure it measures the same on all sides.

Stack-N-Whack Quilt

Tab is talking to me on the phone, since I was sick and not able to be there that year, while opening their Christmas gift that I sewed for them . Oh, what a lovely quilt! Thanks mom!

This is Johnathon holding the Stack N Whack quilt I made for them in 1999, after opening it at Christmastime. They loved the quilt. They phoned me so that I was on the phone when they opened the gift.

Tab all snuggled up in their new machine sewn quilt. It looks like she's enjoying the warmth the quilt provides.

Mom's Lap Quilt

This is a lap quilt I made for my mom in 1999. I used some of the same pieces of material that I used on Andrea's quilt. Mom, of course, loved the quilt.

Placemats

PlacematsHere are the first placemates I made for my daughter, Tab which I gave to her as a Christmas gift in 2000. I enjoyed making these as well. When she opened them she requested I also make her placemats to match her fiesta ware.

Andrea's Quilt

Andreas quilt

Here is the quilt I made for Andrea. I used a pattern from a quilt magazine and instead of top stitching it, I tied the quilt. I used cotton material, and for parts of the borders I used a fabric with musical notes in the pattern.

Andreas with Quilt

Here is Andrea with her new quilt. Her hair kept falling down. But she loved the quilt and even sang the notes along the border. It was pretty cute!

This is a picture so you can see the border of the quilt. Oops my arm got in the way.  I sewed this quilt in 2001.

Square in a Square Baby Quilt

Baby Quilt This quilt was made with the square in a square technique.  It was so cool watching it all come together.  It Didn't take long at all to create. Micki loved it so much that she even asked me to make a quilt out of old baby clothes which I did. Picture of it is posted further down on this page. Sewn in 2001.

Square in a Square Baby Quilt

Susies Baby Quilt This Baby quilt was created with a square in a square pattern and I also used large (18") squares of a butterfly pattern that looked like it was on a pond. Susie loved the quilt. Sewn in 2001.

Table Runner

Tabs Table Runner This was a table runner that was created for my daughter, Tab, to match her Fiesta Ware dishes and given to her at Christmas time in 2002.  She liked it so much that she hung it on her wall instead of putting it on her table.  I left an opening on each end so that you could put a dowel rod through it just in case she wanted to hang it on the wall.  I sewed matching placemats which I gave her Christmas 2003, I will post those pictures once I get the film developed.  The pattern I used was a diffult one to sew the arrow corners so I revised it and made squares on the corners instead which made it easer to sew.
Here is the table runner hung on her wall.

Allens Quilt

This was the quilt made for Allen by Grandma Karen.  Allen is opening it up.  Christmas 2001.Allen's opening his Quilt

Here is the back side of the quilt.  Allen grabbed it up and was so happy to get this quilt.

Pillows Square in a Square

Lizs Pillows This set of pillows was created using the Square in a Square technique by Jodi Barrows.  It was fun to create because the center diagram created a sort of rectangular star when you placed all the squares together.  One thing I enjoyed about using the Square in a Square pattern is you could rearrange your squares to create different effects when finalizing the pattern!  This was a Christmas gift given to my daughter Liz in the year 2001.  I used the pillow forms for inserts.

Bens Quilt

Ben Opening QuiltBen really liked his quilt! Here he is inspecting the back side and realized it was a thick quilt. I used a white comforter as the inside batting and sewed the quilt around it. The backing was a preformated batting/backing combination which I find works much better then trying to sew batting and then backing separately.

bens quiltThis is the actual quilt which was created using the Square in a Square type pattern. It was fun, interesting, and bright! Ben wanted bright colors. These should be more neon colors but once the picture was processed the colors didn't come up bright.

Lone Star Quilt

I made this lone star quilt for Mike and Julie's wedding which was on August 22, 2003.  (Click on the picture for a larger view, then click on your back button to return to this page)

This was the first time I tried the stippling technique and it came out perfect!  I was so pleased!

Old Baby Clothes Quilt

This quilt was created from old baby clothes and I designed the pattern to accomodate the different sized blocks.  It was a real challenging quilt and I learned a lot from working with the different kinds of fabric!  When using Terry Cloth you want to be sure to have a piece of muslin behind it so that it doesn't stretch when working with the fabric.  (Click on the picture for a larger view, then click on your back button to return to this page)

Baby Clothes Quilt

Caden Michael's Quilt

This quilt was ordered from Fons & Porters website and I followed the instructions in the quilt and added additional stitching around the circles

Caden is my new grandson

I hope you enjoyed the different quilting projects I created. Come back again soon as I'll be adding more to this site as I complete my quilt projects, take pictures of the quilts, and have the pictures processed so that I can upload them to this website.
