My primary expertise is in applied phonology with a strong interest in pronunciation theory and teaching, the integration of pronunciation into oral communication curricula, and speech intelligibility. I also enjoy teaching ESL Methodology and Linguistics.EMPLOYMENT HISTORYI am currently working on several articles on English intonation, both about how it should best be described and in how it is most effectively taught in a communicative framework. I am also working on a book project on Dialect awareness in ESL Teacher Training.
I am also developing a pronunciation textbook that emphasizes practice with English stress, rhythm and melody. The book will have a strongly communicative focus. Each lesson will be organized around a pronunciation point, but it will have a functional focus that will provide meaningful practice of the pronunciation in a conversational context.
