RESEARCH AND TEACHING INTERESTS
My primary expertise is in applied phonology with a strong interest in pronunciation theory and teaching, the integration of pronunciation into oral communication curricula, and speech intelligibility.  I also enjoy teaching ESL Methodology and  Linguistics.

I am currently working on several articles on English intonation, both about how it should best be described and in how it is most effectively taught in a communicative framework.  I am also working on a book project on Dialect awareness in  ESL Teacher Training.

I am also developing a pronunciation textbook that emphasizes practice with English stress, rhythm and melody.  The book will have a strongly communicative focus.  Each lesson will be organized around a pronunciation point, but it will have a functional focus that will provide meaningful practice of the pronunciation in a conversational context.
