An Interactive Environment for the Graphical Analysis of Spatial Data.

James J. Majure, Dianne Cook, Jürgen Symanzik, Inna Megretskaia

These videotape segments show examples of the use of the ArcView-XGobi link on data taken over the north-east of the United States. There are three segments, one showing the multivariate link, the second showing the variogram cloud link and a third showing the spatial cumulative distribution function (SCDF) link.

The VHS format of the full version of segments shown here can be borrowed from the American Statistical Society Statistical Graphics Section library .

These segments have both audio and video, so they are best viewed on a machine that has a speaker. The format is QuickTime, and will run with movieplayer on a Slicon Graphics workstation or xanim on a workstation (without sound) or on a macintosh (and pc?) with quicktime movie viewing software.

The postage stamp size videos are really too small to be seen on the screen but they may whet your appetite for the full quarter screen version. You can zoom in on the picture to make the postage stamp size picture blurry but visible enough to see the main action. The sound is still good on these small views. The quarter screen versions have good video detail. We made the decision that 15Mb was the largest file that was reasonable to distribute across the net and so compromised the quality (as little as possible) to get close to this limit.

1. (Basic) Multivariate Link

Postage stamp size (~6Mb)

Full quarter screen image (~17Mb)

2. Variogram Cloud Link

Postage stamp size (~5Mb)

Full quarter screen image (~15Mb)

3. SCDF Link

Postage stamp size (~5Mb)

Full quarter screen image (~16Mb)
