My scholarly specialty is medieval Iberia, focusing particularly on fourteenth-century Aragon. My current research focuses on the life and letters of queen Violant de Bar (1365-1431), as well as other women's vernacular writings from the period. Included in this grander project is a consideration of how these writing women represented themselves in their own words, and how they have been subsequently gendered by historians.
